Best value and easy to use I've had my Poulan Pro chainsaw for two years and I love it. It is easy to use and its by far the best value out there. I own 10 acres of land covered with dense hard wood trees. I have cleared over half of the trees and my Poulan Pro has not given me any problems. March 10, 2012
two duds I purchased two 18" 42 cc poulon pro chainsaws in the last week. After the first one, I thought maybe I just got a bad one, after getting the second one, I realized it's the product. Neither saw would cut easily through an 8" post oak log and kept bogging down. Neither would stay running on idle. I had to keep then throttled up to keep them running. I will be returning the second one also, getting a full refund, and purchasing another brand. I never thought that I would be happy to still have my little 16" 36 cc craftsman, but it will out cut these poulon pros all day. October 27, 2014
would not recommend to anyone After 6 months my clutch went out, home debot replaced it only because they didn't want to mess with it. The second one would never stay idle always died, if I ran it more than 20 minutes it would overheat and not start for hours. After about a year of what I consider mild use it overheated on last time and lost all compression. I always used mid grade gas and quality oil. So now home depot will not exchange cause I have owned it for more than 3 months and is now on its way to poulin pro's repair shop and by reading the other reviews it will be my fault so I mine as well kiss it good bye because I will not pay to get it fixed. I think I'm going to have to save up for a stihl. All my friends and coworkers swear by them. Thank you for reading don't make the same mistake I did spend the money on a quality chainsaw. Won't Start I returned the first saw I purchased from Lowes on Oct,18,2014 as I could not get it to start? Returned saw to Lowes for another saw of the same model #PP4218A. No trouble with this one. October 23, 2014
Mechanics Opinion - JUNK Professional mechanic for 10 years and I cannot get this brand new saw to run properly. Poor construction - Will not idle no matter how carb is adjusted, and when I can get it running it bogs down under any load. Cold or Warm it requires many pulls to get it started. Ive worked on hundreds of 2 stroke, this is just a poor design. Service center cites operator error, either using bad fuel or a bad fuel mixture. Great company, great service. Ill never purchase another Poulan Pro product. At least this was a cheap piece of junk. October 22, 2014
I got Less than 2 hours out of mine Ran great for first use. When trying to start it for second use, the clutch froze. Poulan refuses to fix it, claiming user error, user must have left break on. If break was left on, why didn't the break burn up before the clutch? No one in the tree business that I have spoken with can understand how the clutch can be broken. Poulan dealer wants one hundred and thirty bucks to fix a one hundred and seventy dollar saw. They can keep it. October 14, 2014
model PP4218A Best saw I ever had, my first 18 inch saw, It took care of a big job and did it real fast.(I had a 2 foot dia. tree down on my bee hive.) I thank you and the bees are still alive. September 24, 2014
value for the money I purchased this saw based off previous experience with Poulan products. With that being said, I knew what to expect. I purchased this saw as a reconditioned unit. I unpacked the saw and put it together. I immediately noticed the bar and cover weren't aligning just right. After I took the cover off I noticed the plastic shipping spacer was jammed in the cover. The thing clearly has written on it "remove"....there was sawdust on it....DUH! Anyway, I added extra oil to my mix, bar and chain oil and fired it up. Runs great! Just a tip, always use 100% gas, your power equipment performs so much better. September 23, 2014
