PP4218AVX From the get go the saw didn't seem to be working properly. The idle seemed to be inconsistent and it kept stalling out. When was running ok it cut fine. Before I could finish one tank of gas it quit running entirely and never started again. I brought it to the store where it was purchased and they sent it to the repair shop. Never found out exactly what the problem was but they ended up replacing it with a new one, although that one was the 4218AV. February 9, 2014
Very well performing chainsaw This Poulan Pro chainsaw is the best performing chainsaw I have ever used, performance, and ergonomics are far more superior in this product than a Craftsman chain saw I had owned in the past. January 27, 2014
This product excellent when it works My Model # PP5020AV, after 10 minuets use the chain had to be adjusted, the unit worked well for about one hour at which time the chain came off, and I couldn't replace it. The local warranty repair (George's Lawn) company fixed the chain and advised they ordered a plastic chain stop piece (30) thirty days ago, and have yet to receive same. Now I have a $200 unit (Under Warranty) i cant use to cut fire wood to help heat my home in one of the coolest Januarys on record. . I will never purchase any Poulan or related product ever again. Poulan Pro Chainsaw I've had a 14 inch Poulan for years, finally went bad on me. Bought the 18 inch model. Many nice features, starts fairly easily, cuts well when it's running. Biggest problem is the engine idle. Roughest idling chainsaw I've ever had, and I've had over a dozen over the past 40 years. Very hard to adjust idle correctly, so saw continues to run but not such a high idle that chain moves at idle. I've had to adjust it several times and even when it's adjusted as good as I can get it, it runs rough, idle goes up and down. Disappointing because it's a great saw otherwise. January 17, 2014
Throttle control when you pull all the way back on the trigger, the saw cuts out. Similar to a rev limiter. It is a great safety device to protect the saw from to high of RPM's. It's hard to find the sweet spot of the maximum power cutting ability between too much trigger and not enough. Over all it it a great saw for the value. December 22, 2013
use it properly and its awesome First thing if you don't use high octane gas with the 40:1 ratio with the oil you will have issues starting it especially when cold but if you do then it runs great I've had mine for 4 years now and it starts on the first or second pull every time and I heat my home with wood so I've cut at least 100 cords of wood with it and the only problem I've had was the chain brake cracked a new one from eBay was $15 and a simple fix ignore the reviews saying this isn't a good saw because that's far from the truth they probably just don't know what they are doing or aren't using the proper fuel or fuel ratio November 25, 2013
Very Good Chainsaw The chain saw was easy to start, no kickbacks during cutting and easy to handle. I used it for cutting logs into firewood. It took more effort for some of the thicker logs (more than 1 ft in diameter) but worked best with a rocking cutting motion. Definitely a great value for the price. November 20, 2013
product ignition failure Purchased this product to cut down a tree in front of the house, after two hours of on and of use it refused to start, returned it to the store and they changed it. The replacement stoped after 4 hours of on of work. It seems that the ignition module fails. October 30, 2013
